    Description

The pictures show the exact token you will receive.
This nice original condition copper 1841 HT67 is a rarity 1 and resembles a US Large Cent in size, weight and imagery. The obverse has the 1941 date, a Liberty Head, a wreath and E. Pluribus Unum on a ribbon.  The the reverse has SPECIE PAYMENTS SUSPENDED near the edge surrounding a center wreath that surrounding the text MAY TENTH 1837.  It is in very nice, better than average circulated condition and would make a great addition to your Hard Times Token collection.
Hard Times Tokens were produced during the late 1830s to early 1840s to purchase land during the depression in the United States.  Apparently, paper money had become plentiful and almost worthless so people went to the bank to exchange the paper money for coins. That created a run on the banks so the banks coordinated private production of these suspended specie payment "coins" to keep "coins" in circulation.
