    This beautifully detailed medal is a reproduction version of the the 1957
    Bundesrepublik
    (BDR) German Cross in Silver. It is five-piece construction (just like the war-time originals) with exquisite detail and excellent craftsmanship. It is silver-plated.  In the center of the medal is the War Merit Cross First Class with Swords. This is the West German
    Bundeswehr
    pattern created during the so-called Cold War.
    Each medal measures 63
    mm X 63 mm and the weight is just under two ounces.  The flat pin carries the makers mark "1" of
    Deschler und Sohn
    , Munich.
    This medal was authorized by the German Federal Republic on 26 July 1957.
    This is an attractive medal, well-made and quite sturdy.
